1 Of A Kind

Venue Details.

We’ll gloss over the oddity of calling a place “1 Of A Kind” when there’s also one in New York and get right to the high points of 1 OAK. For a club designed entirely around its dance floor, 1 OAK knows how to offer a full night of fun in a finite amount of space.

At first, the long entryway may seem excessive, until you get inside and realize they’re just preparing you for what lies ahead. With tight spaces on every side of the dance floor — one housing a bar, two leading to the only restroom and the third being kept clear of bystanders — 1 OAK can at times feel a little jammed. Thankfully the security staff double as crossing guards and occasionally meter maids telling patrons where they can and cannot stand. Of course that isn’t the only or even the main aspect of 1 OAK you’re likely to notice, as long as you keep that one lane open.

But in between circling from the bar around to the bathroom then back around to try to get on the dance floor, partiers can hang out at the bar and lounge area set slightly above the rest of the club. This is the spot to chill and enjoy the music while deciding whether you want to move to the dance floor or not. A table here is probably cheaper than the ones directly adjacent to the dance floor, so it all comes down to where you want to be when the lights are shining and the music is busting.

The dance floor itself is by far the hottest place to be. When a regular DJ is playing, it becomes a hotspot for all the people who truly go to nightclubs to dance instead of mingling. And when a superstar shows up, that dance floor can be the closest you’ll ever get to being walked on by a major artist.

If you’re not comfortable with closeness, 1 OAK might not be for you. It’s the type of club where strangers become good friends while they push past each other to get at their next drink. And it’s the kind of place where dancing the night away is more important than obeying all the rules or trying too hard to be like anybody else.

Too small for the crowd their trying to pull. If you don’t have table, it’s not worth going to. Security flashes lights in folks face entirely too much. Overly priced even for Vegas. Too many VIP booths not enough space to dance. Most areas are high traffic with security and waiters cutting between your group

Was disappointed with my experience. Pro: the place was air conditioned and almost had adequate air flow. Didnt experience racism or rude staff like a lot of other reviews pointed out. Cons: There are too many "VIP" booths, and not a large enough dance floor. The DJ would not stop turning the music down to announce birthdays and shout outs. The DJ kept spinning his turn table or something ruining the flow. To top it off, he kept looping the same 4 or 5 songs. There were so many security guards and bouncers it felt unwelcoming. Overall, the vibes just weren't that great. There are plenty of other good clubs/bars on and around the strip that I'd rather go to.

This place is one of a kind. Greeted at table reservation side and walked in by a host to be greeted by a cocktail server with a smile. Great hip-hop music along with good customer service.

I was excited at first...Celebrating my birthday with my girls. But this is the worst ending to my birthday celebration. Besides the fact that the older gentleman next to us told the bartender at first that he was paying.... The bartender pours us WATER shots... when we ordered tequila. Then he tries to make us pay $20/ drink for those. I didnt even finish my shot cause i was like "really? This is not tequila.. smell/try this.. its water..." he says im lying and saying we added it. I told him "we do not have water with us to have added" ... he then presumes to argue. He then calls security to kick us out. I do not recommend this club. There are quite a few other clubs that are way better.. and the bartenders dont try to steal from ya. I'm a bartender... i know what its like and I wouldnt rip someone off by trying to sell them water. If i think theyve had enough I'd just tell them.
